Glass-Clad Polycarbonate (GCP)
Glass-Clad Polycarbonate (GCP) is an advanced composite material that combines the strength and impact resistance of polycarbonate with the aesthetic clarity and surface durability of glass. In this system, a thin layer of toughened or tempered glass is laminated onto a polycarbonate core, creating a panel that is significantly stronger than standard glass while remaining lightweight and resistant to shattering.
The polycarbonate core provides exceptional impact resistance, making GCP ideal for applications where safety and security are critical, such as facades, skylights, balustrades, and canopies. It can withstand severe weather conditions, accidental impacts, and even some ballistic forces, depending on the thickness and specifications of the layers. The glass outer layer ensures a scratch-resistant, smooth surface that retains optical clarity and offers the premium appearance of traditional glass.
