Laminated Bullet-Resistant Glass
Laminated bullet-resistant glass is a high-security glazing system designed to withstand ballistic impacts and provide protection against firearms, blasts, and forced entry attempts. It is constructed by layering multiple sheets of glass and specialized polymer interlayers—typically polyvinyl butyral (PVB) or ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA)—under heat and pressure to form a single, highly resilient pane. The number of layers and the thickness of each are tailored to meet specific threat levels, from handguns to high-caliber rifles.
Beyond ballistic protection, this glass provides additional benefits such as sound insulation, UV filtering, and fire resistance, depending on the chosen interlayers and coatings. It is commonly used in banks, government buildings, embassies, jewelry stores, armored vehicles, and high-risk commercial or residential projects where security is paramount. Frames are typically reinforced aluminium or steel to support the weight and maintain structural stability.
