Windows uPVC Door

uPVC has taken over from timber and mild steel for doors in Mumbai for the same reason it has for windows: it does not swell, rot, rust or need repainting. What separates a good uPVC door from a cheap one is the steel inside the profile and the locking hardware — neither of which you can see.

Why windows upvc door

Steel-reinforced profiles

Galvanised reinforcement inside the chambers, sized for the leaf. It is what stops a uPVC door bowing or dropping.

Multi-point locking

Hooks and deadbolts engaging at several points up the frame, which is both security and what pulls the leaf onto its seal.

No painting, ever

The colour is in the foil, not a coating, so there is nothing to flake, peel or need redoing after a monsoon.

Insulates and damps sound

A multi-chambered section conducts far less heat than aluminium and damps traffic noise noticeably better.

Why uPVC for doors here

Unplasticized polyvinyl chloride is rigid, weather-resistant and dimensionally stable. Against the two materials it usually replaces:

Against timber. It does not absorb moisture, so it does not swell in monsoon and shrink afterwards — the cycle that opens joints and jams doors. No termites, and no repainting.

Against mild steel. It does not rust. In salt-laden coastal air, a painted steel door frame starts corroding at the fixings and cut edges within a few years, and once rust is under the paint it spreads.

It also insulates. uPVC conducts far less heat than aluminium, so the door is not bringing the afternoon sun into the hallway with it, and the multi-chambered section damps sound better than a hollow metal one.

What separates a good one from a cheap one

Steel reinforcement

uPVC profiles are hollow. Over a door-sized leaf they rely on galvanised steel inside the chambers to carry the weight and resist the daily thermal cycle. A door is heavier than a window sash and used far more often, so this matters more, not less.

Omitted or undersized reinforcement shows up as a leaf that bows, drops on its hinges, or stops closing cleanly after a couple of summers. It is invisible at purchase, which is why it is worth asking about explicitly.

Locking

Modern door security is in the lock, not the leaf. A multi-point system throws hooks or bolts at several points up the frame, spreading any forced load rather than concentrating it at a single deadbolt.

It does a second job as well: those locking points are what pull the leaf onto its gaskets, so the same mechanism that secures the door is what makes it weather-tight.

Glass

Any glazed panel in a door should be laminated, because it is at body height and a break would leave an opening. See glass options.

Styles we make

Entrance doors — solid or part-glazed, with the emphasis on security and weather sealing.

Patio and balcony doors — sliding where floor space is tight, lift-and-slide where the panel is large or the opening exposed.

Casement French pairs — where you want the full width to clear and have the swing space.

Finishes

White, solid colours and woodgrain foils, and the inside face does not have to match the outside. Because the colour is in the foil rather than a paint film, there is nothing to maintain. See colour options.

Made in Bhandup West

We fabricate our own uPVC systems, so reinforcement and hardware specification are our decisions rather than inherited from a supplier, and non-standard openings are made to size. See how we manufacture and door installation for how they are fitted.

Common questions

Are uPVC doors strong enough for a main entrance?

Yes, when properly specified — which means galvanised steel reinforcement through the profile, a multi-point lock engaging at several points, a security cylinder, and laminated glass in any glazed panel. An unreinforced uPVC door with a single latch is not, which is where doubts about the material come from.

Do uPVC doors warp in Mumbai heat?

A reinforced one does not. uPVC expands more than aluminium with temperature, which is precisely why the steel inside the chambers matters — it constrains that movement. Bowing or dropping in a uPVC door almost always means the reinforcement was omitted or undersized.

How secure are uPVC doors compared with steel?

Comparable in practice, and often better, because security now comes from the locking system rather than the leaf material. A multi-point lock spreads the load across the frame; a single deadbolt in a steel door concentrates it at one point, which is where such doors fail.

Do uPVC doors need painting or polishing?

No. The finish is a foil bonded to the profile or the colour is through the material, so there is nothing to flake or peel. Cleaning is soap and water. This is the main practical advantage over timber in this climate.

What uPVC door styles are available?

Solid and part-glazed entrance doors, [sliding](/doors/types/sliding-doors/) patio doors, [casement French](/doors/types/casement-french-doors/) pairs, and [lift-and-slide](/doors/types/lift-and-slide-doors/) systems for large openings — in white, solid colours and woodgrain foils.
