Best Windows Contractor

Most window complaints are not manufacturing faults. They are fitting faults — an opening measured once instead of three times, a frame packed unevenly, a reveal sealed in a hurry before the monsoon. Choosing the contractor matters at least as much as choosing the window, so this page is about what to ask before you sign.

Why best windows contractor

We make what we fit

Manufacturing in Bhandup West means no finger-pointing between fabricator and installer when something needs adjusting.

Site survey before quoting

Openings in older Mumbai buildings are rarely square. We measure the real opening rather than quoting from a floor plan.

Sealing treated as part of the job

Reveal sealing and drainage are where leaks start, so they are specified and checked, not left to the finishing team.

One point of contact after handover

Service, adjustment and hardware replacement come back to the same company that made the window.

Expertise, meaning the boring parts

A good contractor knows which window suits which opening, and — more usefully — knows which ones will cause problems. That covers uPVC sliding windows, double-glazed units, casement and top-hung systems, and glass replacement in an existing frame.

The expertise that actually shows up in the finished job is unglamorous: measuring an out-of-square opening correctly, allowing for the packing, and sealing the reveal so water runs out rather than in. Drafts, leaks and misalignment nearly all trace back to one of those three.

Durability comes from the fit

High-quality installation is what keeps a window secure, functional and square years later. Frames that are packed evenly do not bow. Sashes that are hung true do not drop. Seals that are applied to a clean, dry reveal do not peel in the first monsoon.

A contractor working to a deadline rather than a standard will get all three slightly wrong, and nothing will be visibly wrong on handover day.

Energy performance is installed, not bought

A double-glazed unit fitted into an unsealed opening performs like a single-glazed one. Insulation depends on the frame being sealed continuously against the reveal, so the air path is closed. This is why a cheaper window fitted well often outperforms an expensive one fitted badly.

Security depends on the hardware working

Multi-point locking, reinforced frames and toughened or laminated glass only work if the hardware engages properly. Part of the handover should be checking that every lock throws fully and every sash pulls tight to the seal — not just that the window opens.

Customisation, because Mumbai buildings are not standard

Standard sizes rarely fit. Older buildings have openings that have moved, been re-plastered, or were never square. Being able to fabricate to a measured size — rather than fit the nearest stock unit and fill the gap — is the difference between a clean job and a visible compromise.

We also make custom window designs where the opening is an unusual shape, and match colours and finishes to an existing scheme.

After the handover

Windows are mechanical. Hinges settle, rollers collect grit, seals eventually need replacing. A contractor who offers maintenance and repair after installation is one who expects to still be reachable in five years.

Working with Khidkiji

We have been manufacturing since 2007, from a factory in Bhandup West, and we install across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane. You can read more about the company, see what we manufacture, or look at the sectors we work in if the project is commercial rather than residential.

If you want to arrive at that conversation prepared, how to measure for replacement windows covers what to record and why. Tell us the opening, the floor, and what it faces. That is usually enough for a straight answer about what it needs.

Common questions

What should I ask a window contractor before accepting a quote?

Four things: do they manufacture or only resell; will they survey the opening before finalising sizes; what brand and grade of hardware is included; and who is responsible if the window needs adjusting after the monsoon. Vague answers on any of those usually show up later as a problem.

Does the same contractor need to make and install the windows?

Not necessarily, but it removes a common failure mode. When the fabricator and the installer are different firms, a window that does not close properly becomes an argument about whose fault it is. We make and fit our own, so it does not.

How long does a window installation take?

The fitting itself is usually quick — a flat's worth of windows is typically a day or two on site. The longer part is manufacture after survey, because units are made to the measured opening rather than pulled from stock. We confirm dates at survey.

Do I need to be present during installation?

Someone should be, for access and for the final walk-through where we check every sash opens, closes and locks. Society permissions and lift booking in Mumbai buildings are usually the bigger scheduling constraint.

What happens if a window develops a problem later?

Tell us what it is doing. Most post-installation issues are hardware adjustments — a hinge, a roller, a lock that has dropped slightly — and are dealt with on a service visit. Our [service and repair](/windows/service-and-repair/) team handles windows we made and windows we did not.
